A pan y agua
Enrique Cadícamo
Bread and Water
In my sad evocation arises
the time that has passed.
How many years have gone by
and it seems like yesterday!
Where is the one I loved?
Where is the one I forgot?
The memory saddens me
and darkens in my heart.
Old Palermo of back then
today returns to my mind.
How many absent friends
like me will remember...
those nights of festivity,
those nights of joy,
and this tango that was heard
among glasses of champagne...
(Spoken) With bread and water...
Tango that comes from afar
to caress my ears
like a beloved memory
with melancholic traces.
Beloved tango of yesterday,
what strong wind took you away.
Along with her you have gone
and today your evocation brings her back.
