Não Quero Te Negar

I Don't Want to Deny You
It was the rooster that announced the night, but sadly
It was the rooster that crowed, and its song still echoes
Cold dawn, the soldiers struck him
Without fear without compassion
They took Jesus in the dim light
They punched and pushed him
And Peter followed from afar, witnessing Jesus' suffering
Not understanding what was happening, Peter cried
What he was seeing, the rooster's crow haunted his mind
Seemed to say to him, didn't I tell you, you would deny me
What surprised him the most was the gaze of the gentle master looking at Peter
Maybe he wanted to say, I still love you
I love you, what's done is done
Peter turned his back and left
He wept bitterly at what he saw
He denied Jesus and the pain in Peter's heart was great
I don't want to deny you, Lord
But at the same time, I am weak
I don't want to be a broken reed
But a rock well-founded
In your presence, I want to be
I don't want to deny you, Lord
But at the same time, I am weak
I want to be in your presence
I will make a difference
I promise I won't deny you
