País de Cobre
Evelyn Cornejo
Land of Copper
Once upon a time in a land of copper
No humanity, lots of uniforms
Poor around here, poor over there
With a few owners of everything
The lucky ones who manage to work
Must labor for more than eight hours
I make a few bucks, not enough for anything
If I want shoes, I have to go into debt
They're stealing from us
They're lying to us
On TV, on the radio, and in the newspaper
I have many children, they want to study
How do I explain to them that it won't be possible?
The constitution privatized the right
Education is a privilege
They do nothing to change the absurd reality
I have no health, no remedies
They take the copper with low taxes
The transnationals take everything
Injustice sprouts everywhere
They're stealing from us
They're lying to us
On TV, on the radio, and in the newspaper
