Lord!
You who were wise in creating the rivers and seas
Seem to have forgotten our backlands
You who gave men the land to take everything from it
Did not give us the same fate

But today, oh God
I see how generous you were
To us warriors of Caatinga
You gave us resistance to the Sun
The wisdom to make use of everything in nature
The willpower to keep fighting
And never retreat in front of the enemy

Thank you, Lord God
For creating an environment
Where an ordinary human being cannot survive
Because only the persevering
And the strong in spirit
Can fight here
