Yo Vivo En Una Ciudad
Fabiana Cantilo
I Live In A City
I live in a city
Where people still use hair gel
Where people go to the office
Without a spare minute
I live in a city
Where the rush of daily grind
Seems like a Charlie Chaplin film
Although without comedy
I live in a city
That has a port at the door
And a wide-eyed expression
For what is new
And yet, I love that town
So distant from each other, so lonely
Because I am no more than one of them
Without the hair gel, without the office
Eager to renew
I adore my city
Even if its people don't reciprocate
When they condemn my appearance and my waves
With an insult as they pass by
I adore my city
When the girls in their miniskirts
Seem to magically turn their backs
On popular inhibition
I adore my city
Even if they accuse me of being crazy and dull
Even if they forcibly mow my hair
In a sectional hair salon
And yet, I love that town
Because it incites rebellion in me
And because it gives me endless desires
To answer them and sing to them
My novelty, my novelty
