Buddy Pal
Dear buddy, I'm back in Buenos Aires
After touring your coastline,
I, who used to complain about my homeland,
Preferring what's outside with all its novelty
I used to push everyone around
And felt like the king of this city,
I went to trendy places and cool clubs,
Where they speak another language and you lose your identity
It's dangerous when the tide pulls
Because it drags you until you're at its mercy,
Maybe that's why today I miss so much
The gentle flow that your hometown taught me to love
I entered your world of provincial nobility
Spreading all my curiosity around,
I discovered that I wasn't adrift,
That that music was mine and I didn't let it slip away
We celebrated the dorado we caught
Drinking mate and savoring your chipá,
And we took down that moon that night,
Playing with the foam of your Paraná river
May it say goodbye when I arrive,
That a new course is what I'm going to take,
And if destiny invites me to go far
Knowing where I come from will make it easier to reach
