Backlands
The best of poetry
Sung in the world
The best of beauty
Pure under moonlight
Where nature
Breathes deeply
On the backlands ground
Of my place
If it rained
And everything got wet
I wouldn't have let
My backlands scorch
This gift that the Northeast
Has had since the past
Makes the Northeasterner
Live singing
But with all the richness of this world
Our people wouldn't want to leave
Suffer in deep pain
Just because we want to exist
Backlands is Brazilian Northeast
And we want nothing from abroad
The most ours things are beauty
Love, poetry, and nature
It's the backlands!
