Civilização

Civilization
I went to visit my homeland, the place where I was born and raised
I found everything different from those past years
Today I cry and lament, I blamed the weather for being put in charge
Arriving home I found a civilization
On a nice table there was a television
I cry with longing for the place of the oratory where my mother used to pray
I couldn't find the lantern that my father used to light at night
The rusty, empty kerosene can
It's heartbreaking to despise a street lamp because of its energy consumption
They replaced the cold water container with a refrigerator
It doesn't have that taste of tap water
Water is brought by car, the handmade clay pot of the potter has disappeared
I couldn't find the kettle my mother used to make coffee anymore
And not even the ox horn that father used to put the snuff in
Today everything is changed, civilized people see themselves but don't know what it is
The strutting of donkeys on the chessboards is no longer seen
Not even the creaking of a rein can make donkeys walk faster
That's the pure truth, today, only longing remains in the cowboy's heart
That's the pure truth, today, only longing remains in the cowboy's heart
