Grisel
Francisco Canaro
Grisel
I should never have thought
Of winning your heart
And yet I looked for you
Until one day I found you
And with my kisses I stunned you
Not caring that you were good...
Your illusion was of glass
It broke when I left
For I never, never returned..
How bitter was your sorrow.!
Don't forget me
Your Grisel
You told me when kissing
That Christ there
And today I live crazed
Because I didn't forget you
Nor do you remember me
Grisel! Grisel!
Then I missed your voice
And the warmth of your gaze
And like a madman I looked for you
But I never found you again
And in other kisses I stunned myself...
My whole life was a deception!
What will become of me, Grisel?
The law of God was fulfilled
Because their guilt has been paid
Who caused you so much harm.
