La Mia Libertà
Franco Califano
My Freedom
I’ve got a guitar for a friend and a raspy voice
I sing and play my freedom
When I’m sad, I play soft, when I’m feeling good, I play loud
That’s how I face my fate
If I’m not in love, I shout out loud even if I’m not allowed
I always say what I want
If I want a body and a little affection
I take a stroll, look for a bed and a woman who’s down
Whoever wants to keep me locked up doesn’t know there’s no wall
That can separate me from my freedom
Freedom that runs in my veins, freedom that belongs to me
Freedom that is freedom
I live life day by day with what I’ve got
I’m an artist, and that’s all I need is my freedom
From a window, a woman leans out and gives me a smile
She’s one of those, but she’s beautiful and I’m into it tonight
I spend an hour in her company and then I’m on my way
I don’t trust anyone, it’s roses and chrysanthemums
I play and sing my freedom
When I’m sad, I play soft, when I’m feeling good, I sing loud
That’s how I face my fate
A woman in love, even the cleanest one
Sooner or later, she’ll cheat on you
Might as well move on and handle it with kid gloves
Just this freedom
I live life day by day with what I’ve got
I’m an artist, and that’s all I need is my freedom
From a window, a woman leans out and gives me a smile
She’s one of those, but she’s beautiful and I’m into it tonight
I spend an hour in her company and then I’m on my way
