La Indita Del Rio
Franki Otero
The Little Indian Girl of the River
Walking around I was strolling
Among mesquites and cacti
I met a pretty little Indian girl
One of those that rarely come out
And by the riverbank we went to talk
I told her nice things and started to make her fall in love
She responded
With a big kiss
Her sincere love
I felt in my chest
We held hands
Under the shade of a willow
Between kisses and caresses
The day became late
She said I have to go
I want to see you again
Next spring
When the cold winter passes
I want you
To be my owner
I swear to God
Eternal love
So the months passed and spring came again
Crazy in desperation
I wanted to find my queen
And look with surprise
What I came to find
That the little Indian girl of the river
I never saw her again
The wide river took her
With it went
My love
Now I find myself very sad
Under the shade of the willow
Watching the water flow as
The riverbed grows
Imagining she comes out
With her wet hair
That she takes my hand
And we give each other many little kisses
I don't know, I can only imagine
Because my love
Drowned in the river
Waiting so long for the moment
For the encounter to arrive
It's a love story
That may seem like a tale
Four seasons of the year
I had to wait
To see the little Indian girl
And then take her to the altar
She didn't wait for me
She has gone
With her went
My love
Because she was my love
The little Indian girl of the river
The little Indian girl of the river
The little Indian girl of the river
