Hail Mary! Virgin mild
Hear a virgin's plea
From this rock stern and wild
Let my prayer waft to thee
We sleep safely until morning
Though men may be so cruel
Oh Virgin, see the Virgin's worries
Oh Mother, hear a pleading child!

Hail Mary! Immaculate!
When we sink down on this rock
To sleep, and your protection covers us
The hard rock will seem soft to us
You smile, rose scents waft
In this dull rock crevice
Oh Mother, hear a child's plea
Oh Virgin, a virgin calls!

Hail Mary! Pure maiden!
The earth and the air demons
Chased away by the grace of your eyes
They cannot dwell here with us
We want to quietly submit to fate
As your holy comfort wafts to us
May the Virgin incline to you kindly
To the child that pleads for the Father
