The World Upside Down
I was born with a lot of effort,
From my mom's side,
They say she was 6 months,
Hospitalized in a hospital..
Suffering in a bed,
At risk of miscarriage,
And even though her life was,
In danger..
She wanted me to be born anyway..
And I grew up like a normal kid..
From a low-income neighborhood,
I lacked food,
And my parents lacked work..
Being small and alone,
I know what that's like,
I went to school,
Without a coat,
Freezing my bones..
And that's how I grew up,
Little by little I became independent,
I learned what the street is like
And to take care of everything
I understood that no one is good,
And even though many want to give you,
The one who shakes your hand today,
Tomorrow could kill you..
And you have to take care of yourself,
And sometimes even slow down a bit,
Because even if you're bad,
There will always be someone crazier..
In my world there are many things,
That happen and are not understood,
And economic confrontations,
With the life that is learned,
This is the world upside down,
Where I live,
Where your friend,
Tomorrow could be your enemy,
Where children lack,
Food, and warmth,
Where the good ones die,
And the bad ones stay alive..
That's the world upside down,
Where I live,
Where your friend,
Tomorrow could be your enemy,
Where children lack,
Food, and warmth,
Where the good ones die,
And the bad ones stay alive..
And very young I knew,
What pain is,
To have to cry,
For a friend in a coffin,
Somewhere else,
At 14 there are kids who hide,
Whereas in my world,
At 14 already a man,
You have your gun,
And to smoke your marijuana,
You have your girls,
And you spend some time in jail..
Surely you have a son,
To feed,
And there is the police,
That won't stop bothering you,
Also..
Surely you must have,
A couple of enemies,
And to cry and remember,
A couple of friends,
Who left,
To a better world,
And it comforts you to know,
That they no longer suffer the pain,
Of living between a rock,
And a hard place,
Of having to hustle,
To be able to sustain themselves,
The roulette of life,
Don't play it backwards,
And go out to win
And end up losing..
(Listen)
This is the world upside down,
Where I live,
Where your friend,
Tomorrow could be your enemy,
Where children lack,
Food, and warmth,
Where the good ones die,
And the bad ones stay alive..
That's the world upside down,
Where I live,
Where your friend,
Tomorrow could be your enemy,
Where children lack,
Food, and warmth,
Where the good ones die,
And the bad ones stay alive..
Surviving in the world upside down,
I learned that life
Is slipping away,
As you grow older,
And I learned to value,
Moments like gold,
The memories,
That remain,
Are your only treasures,
About women I will say,
Something that is obvious,
They find another boyfriend,
When they are,
At your wake,
They all love you,
Everyone admires you
But when you die,
They quickly forget..
Surviving in this
World we grew up in,
And we are marginalized by everyone,
No one cares about us,
They only mention us,
When we act badly,
When we get high,
Steal,
Or kill..
I think,
They should give other options,
The prisons are already full,
Of thugs,
And thieves.
In my neighborhood
They should train professionals,
Instead of having kids,
Be the criminals..
This is the world upside down,
Where I live,
Where your friend,
Tomorrow could be your enemy,
Where children lack,
Food, and warmth,
Where the good ones die,
And the bad ones stay alive..
That's the world upside down,
Where I live,
Where your friend,
Tomorrow could be your enemy,
Where children lack,
Food, and warmth,
Where the good ones die,
And the bad ones stay alive..
(This is the world upside down where I live
Where the police instead of protecting us
Invent causes for us
Where children have no childhood
And work on the street or steal
To eat and survive
Where politicians take from us
Instead of helping us
Where no one cares about us
Where they forgot about us
Where for judges and prosecutors
We are guilty until proven
Otherwise
But then when we become
Who we are they are horrified
And they kill us in the street like rats
Or lock us up for life
Then they talk to me about equal rights
Please)
