2000 ans et un jour
Michel Fugain
2000 Years and a Day
2000 years and a day,
Taking stock, it's heavy.
Without wasting time, it starts all over again.
Don't get down, don't worry
Because, for the years, it seems,
It's always the first two thousand that are the hardest.
2000 years and two days,
We shave off the jerks and the towers
We see people, colors, outlines better.
We go from venom to velvet
And we give love a chance
And we see that it's good, that it's beautiful and we're pretty happy.
Maybe it's the last chance,
We can't afford to mess up anymore.
2000 years and three days,
We chase away the smog and, hello,
There's sunshine in the yard again.
We surround ourselves with ozone
And then afterwards, we make love
And things are getting better and we're more and more in favor.
2000 years, four days,
Marignan is over, Pearl Harbor.
We throw away the guns and money is no longer valid.
We've silenced the drums.
The mood of humans is humor
And anytime, anywhere, anyone makes love.
Maybe it's the last chance,
We can't afford to mess up anymore.
2000 years and five days,
There's so much work to catch up on
That there will be plenty for everyone, forever.
But from the sixth to the seventh day,
We yawn and relax, we savor
This new world, hoping it lasts more than just eight days.
