Hoy me levanté

Today I woke up looking at the television
and I can't believe what I have before my eyes
there's talk of war with much concern
they say it's something against the terrorists
and on one side there are many who favor it
but on the other hand there are many who also oppose it
some say that's what they deserve
and others pray for them to finally react
And we see the front page of the newspaper at every magazine stand

There's a divided world and everyone has their point of view
we see different opinions all over the earth
some want peace and others prefer to go to war
and in the midst of all this I'm surprised at how much we've changed
because we no longer see the strength of that unity we saw in the past
where are those who came together that day we were bombed
yesterday they were united but today they have all separated
because with the passing of time it seems we have forgotten

As I continue watching the television I see that everyone
continues with the same story, they keep saying it's a mistake
while others fight for victory
on the other hand attention keeps rising
many condemn everything that's happening
the frustration of a whole world is growing as the list of fallen increases
and we see the front page of the newspaper at every magazine stand

We criticize war and all violence
but discord reigns among us
many resist with protest
they continue pointing without mercy
they say it's an abuse against many people
that thousands of children are dying
but we have forgotten the innocents
who are still dying because of abortion

And while on the front page what I keep seeing
is the same news
there's a world lost in sin
because of greed
the family is a species in danger but
but we don't want to see it
divorce is on the rise but no one wants to resolve it
and in the midst of all this I realize why everything has changed
and it's because we've frozen all the values we had
there's a need for us to look back and return to the past
remember the pain of JESUS when he was crucified
because with the passing of time it seems we have forgotten

we worry about terrorism in Afghanistan and Iraq
but we don't worry about terrorism in homes
children rise against father, father against son
domestic violence, child abuse
the towers didn't fall on 9/11
the first fell in 1962 when they took prayer out of schools and the second in 1971 when abortion was legalized
friend, the family is a species in danger
