Pão de Cada Dia
Gabriel O Pensador
Daily Bread
Another day of work dear diary
I work like a fool and earn less than I'm worth but I need a salary that is much less than necessary
Today the bus drivers are on strike for better pay and I'm looking for one to take me
I have a schedule
I can't be late, I can't have deductions
If I say it was a strike my boss might get suspicious
And if the bastard wants to kick me out I'll be out on the street and he'll quickly find another poor soul
Unemployed and desperate are the most common (look, the bus!!) Right?
It's already crowded, broken windows (It was a picket) driver with a club by his side
He broke the strike because he's also afraid of being unemployed
Leaving his child helpless
Maybe even being evicted from his shack
(And the rent up in the hill is already high
I don't even know if I'm being a fool or smart
I'm here but also hoping the strike succeeds)
I stay quiet because I'm worried too
My salary is already accounted for until the end of the month and my kid is sick
If something unexpected happens I'll have to buy medicine
I don't know what to do
I'm not a doctor
If needed I'll have to ask for an advance in the battle
Like a hungry person asks for a crumb
And that scoundrel might even deny it and then it'll be worse
Because my only source of income is my sweat
I need my daily bread and I'm not the baker's son
So I need the money
I'm in my car
I look in the mirror...
I find it hilarious
They think I don't work just because I'm a
