Trunca Chacarera
Gabriela Carel
Broken Chacarera
There's a broken chacarera
Galloping through my veins
And my throat's a wind
Blowing passion and legacy
Fire that bursts from the earth
I’m the seed, fresh blood
With hope inside
Water me so I can bloom
Thought becomes a word
The melody breathes life
Together they create strength
Of sap that crosses time
And when my bark dies
Shell of my feelings
My soul will keep singing
In the voices of the whole town
We are a forest reborn
Light and roots of our ancestors
Light that guides us
And roots to hold onto the ground
The landscape vibrates in motion
Arms rising like a sky
They fly and become a flag
Ringing and swaying
Even if a battalion of indifference
Comes to knock us down
The fruit is ripe
And it’s a seed in our minds
And when our bodies die
Shell of our feelings
We’ll keep singing
In the voices of the whole town
