The Grandparents
Listen
Listen very carefully
Listen with your heart
This is dedicated to my second parents (to my grandparents)
With much affection
Today I want to tell you what heaven is like
That's why I invite you to my grandfather's house
Where the wooden window and door enclose
A thousand stories inside and out
Welcome to this paradise where the leak wet our floors
Here where the grandchildren ran with courage knowing that grandpa favored them
The man with the beard, his age is a treasure, his hair is silver and his heart is gold
He has a thousand wrinkles but millions of experiences without technology surpassed all science
Grandpa's hand, shining a thousand stories, the light of his defeat fades into victory
His eyes captured the answer from the earth, passing nations, conflicts, and wars
Full of warning he rests in his armchair
He speaks when he should, that's why he stands out
He doesn't waste time because he knows what he wants
That's why when they leave, they hurt the most
They sweeten our childhood with that tender love
A mix of affection, laughter, and humor
They are wisdom, a world of patience
A lake of tenderness, a hill of consciousness
They answer questions without answers
A fundamental pillar of the grandchild and their protests
They are the dawn of all our days
They are our poems, they are our poetry
They carry on their shoulders the armor of time
Golden ages, a life of adventure, they have the power
The magic and charm of giving us a hug and calming our tears
Death rages because the old man is eternal
He is reborn among the youngest and most modern grandchildren
He is a great notebook full of comic strips
A strong castle, a lot of cracks
The furniture in his house transmits energy
He is responsible for uniting the family
He takes out some coins from his pocket
And places them in our hands
He plants the tree of life in his yard, fruits and vegetables with zero pesticides
He hangs portraits on all his walls
And with his cracked voice, he invites you to stay
Give him your minutes and he gives you his days
Give him your sadness and he gives you joy
He wants to enjoy the time he has left
That's why it's necessary to visit him when you can
