The Girls
Girls talk about boys
They go to the bathroom in pairs
It won't make a song
Just a little tune at best
Girls eat chocolate
They're too hot or too cold
They have stomach aches, headaches,
Heartaches, they're not doing well
Girls work at school
They have beautiful handwriting
They keep words, trinkets
In old shoeboxes
Girls have handbags
Girls walk with their arms crossed
They linger in the bathrooms
They love flowers, babies
Don't generalize
There are surely plenty of exceptions
Studying them, understanding them
Is my motto, my mission
Girls pack their things neatly
They rarely play the drum
They get annoyed with their mothers
Whom they call every day
Girls criticize us
Too slow, too rushed, not there
Or too far or too close
Or not enough, not like that
Chorus
Girls confide in each other
They have a childhood friend
They argue in teams
Skip gymnastics
We want to please the girls
But we don't really know how
It's a long study, an art
That we understand when it's too late
Chorus
Chorus
They make our hearts grow
Girls make men better
And the more they do politics
The more peaceful our world is
