Min Dag

My Day
It was probably a Tuesday morning, I was sitting there looking at the pile of bills.
It was a meter and a half high; can’t see that I’ve received,
can’t see that I’ve received, can’t see that I’ve received,
can’t see that I’ve received, can’t see that I’ve received
from the bank and the tax man and all kinds of crap.
Then at the bottom of the damn pile was a beautiful little
letter from the Lotto in Hamar, saying they’d transferred
5.2 million crowns to my account.
I thought this has to be celebrated,
and I ran down and bought a whole case of beer.
I stumbled up to the counter when I heard a fanfare
and a loud-ass roar.
There stood Rølien Saue and Hallvard Flatland and the whole Oslo Gospel Choir.
They cheered and hugged and kissed me,
I was customer number ten million.

And Quiet Birgitte was standing a bit in the background but finally she stepped forward.
She gave me a ticket all the way to the Bahamas and back again.
I stumbled home and opened a beer
and saw that the ticket was issued for two.
It was written in lovely Birgitte’s handwriting:
We’ll meet on the plane at two o’clock.

One night at the bar in beautiful Bahamas,
the most gorgeous thing God must have made came
It was Cindy Crawford, she came right up to me
and kissed me so I was completely gone.
She whispered some words in my ear,
I've been watching you baby, let's get married tonight.
I looked desperately at Quiet Birgitte but she nodded, alright, alright.

Now good advice was expensive, we wanted to get married, but a priest wasn’t easy to find.
Then we heard some cursing, the glasses were clinking
and Bjørn Eidsvåg came crashing in (hallelujah).
And I said yes and Cindy said yes and soon we were both lying there happy.
I told her about Aamot and Ulvang and Sputnik
and she said Norway is my country now.
