Un'altra umanità

But where will we end up if it continues like this?
It's often heard from people here and there
Continuing violence, scandals, deceit, and evils:
where have the true, great ideals gone?
It's true, the world today is painted in dark colors,
misunderstandings and harsh scenes are exalted,
money and easy successes with a grab, use, and throw away mentality.
However, if I may: this is not the only humanity.

I know another humanity
the one I often encounter on the street;
the one that doesn't shout, the one that doesn't crush
to stand out above other people.
I know another humanity
the one that doesn't steal to have,
but will be happy to earn
bread with their sweat.

I believe, I believe in this humanity
that lives in silence, that still knows how to blush
knows how to lower their eyes and knows how to apologize.
This is the humanity that gives me hope.

I know another humanity
the one that now goes against the current;
the one that knows how to give even their life
to die for their own people.
I know another humanity that never seeks
their place in the sun when they know that in the world
due to poverty and hunger many people die.

I believe, I believe in this humanity
that breaks down barriers, that pays in person,
that doesn't use weapons, but knows how to use their heart.
This is the humanity that believes in love.
