Eden Blues
Descending the silver river
Rolling to Nevada
We see the plain that stretches
East of Santa Lucia
The towns are called Natividad,
San Miguel or San Lorenzo
The girls are named Soledad
The boys tend the herds
That's where Jim met
On a road one rainy night
Catherine, the farmer's daughter
And they loved each other all night
The sun shines its gold
In a few rare puddles
The cactus sets the scene
The thistle covers the hills
That's where Adam the senator
Came to spend his old age
Then he died of a heart attack
It is said to be from a broken heart
But the flowers bent by the wind
Seem to pray for his rest
The moon sheds a silver tear
On the white cross of the tomb
Descending the silver river
Rolling to Nevada
We see the plain that stretches
East of Santa Lucia
The towns are called Natividad,
San Miguel or San Lorenzo
The girls are named Soledad
The boys tend the herds
