L'homme au coeur blessé
Georges Moustaki
The Man with the Broken Heart
Day after day, the days go by,
Leaving life abandoned.
In the garden of the man with the broken heart,
The grass is burnt. Not a flower.
On the dead tree, nothing can grow anymore.
Only the fruits of his pain.
The four walls of his house
Shelter nothing but absence
Where have the companions gone
With their laughter and songs?
Where have the companions gone
With their laughter and songs?
Sometimes, tears come to water
The burnt grass of memory
But what sun will be able to warm
The days gone by or yet to come?
The four walls of his house
Shelter nothing but absence
Where have the companions gone
With their laughter and songs?
Where have the companions gone
With their laughter and songs?
Day after day, the days go by,
Leaving life abandoned.
