Verdades Amargas

Bitter Truths
I no longer want to look at what I have seen
Through the glass of experience
The world, the world is a market
Where wills and consciences are bought
Friends are a lie, there are no friends
True friendship is an illusion
It changes, it goes away and disappears
With the turns that the situation takes
Complacent friends are only had
By those who enjoy gold and calm
But for those of us struck by misfortune
We only carry sadness in our souls
If they see us well, they invite us, they flatter us
But if we fall, frankly, they only greet us out of obligation
The society that adores its treasure
Pursues the criminal with hatred
But if the murderer's dagger is made of gold
It silences and the judge kisses the dagger
What shines is the only thing that matters
Even if it shines with gold what is copper
What they never forgive us in life
Is the atrocious crime of being poor
And when I see so much infamy in my path
And that my feet step on so much mud
I feel like cursing life
I feel like cursing everything
Nothing exists in the world, nothing is kind
Everything is mixed with bad
If the heart is so noble
How many times is it masked
And no one should be hurt by what I say here
Because I am bound to the truth
They have given me to taste gall and poison
And gall and poison in return I give
But if my words are rough
In these murky and nameless phrases
On my knees at the bottom I ask forgiveness from God, never from man
Complacent friends are only had
By those who enjoy gold and calm
But for those of us struck by misfortune
We only carry sadness in our souls
