A Cruz
Gerson Rufino
The Cross
My mother, the simple Maria
Raised me with so much joy
And I thinking about the cross
Joseph was a good carpenter
Teaching me how to work the wood
And I thinking about the cross
As a boy in the temple teaching
And the teachers asking me
And I thinking about the cross
John the Baptist baptizing in the river
And the Spirit resting on me
And I thinking about the cross
I walked on water
I multiplied bread and fish
And showed my light to the blind
With each miracle, I was closer to the cross
I resurrected the dead
I purified the lepers
And I freed the captives
With each miracle, I was closer to the cross
So finally I faced the cross
My father made the promise, and I committed to fulfill it
All the time I knew that on the cross that day
I would have to die
And today here I am facing you
Looking into your eyes
I came here to tell you
Do not be afraid, I am Jesus
When I thought about the cross
I was thinking about you
Do not be afraid, I am Jesus
I was thinking about you
