Simão e a Cruz
Gerson Rufino
Simon and the Cross
I was walking along the road
And suddenly I saw the crowd
I ran to see what was happening
I then found out
It was an execution
I got closer and saw a condemned man
Bloody foot, carrying a cross
He was being mistreated and wounded
Treated like a criminal
And his name was Jesus
That man could no longer bear it
He fell powerless, unable to continue
It was then that a soldier called me
And angrily forced me to carry his cross
And I shouted: you can't accuse me
The crimes of this man
I'm not the one to pay
I took that cross, I carried it
Proudly I thought
I have a big heart
I'm helping this poor man
Who will be crucified
Without any compassion
Every step I took I saw
I then realized
That the guilty one was me
The great pain he felt
Was what I deserved
And not the son of God
Jesus and I carrying that cross
The cross made me know who Jesus was
Jesus and I carrying that cross
The cross made me know who Jesus is
Knowing who Jesus was
