La befana trullalla'
Gianni Morandi
The Witch Trullalla
Trullala' Trullala' Trullala'.
The Witch comes at night
with her shoes all worn out,
with the stocking hanging around her neck,
with coal, iron, and brass.
On the broom to fly.
She comes from the sea.
She comes from the sea.
And the snow will fall
on the deserts of Maragia,
from Alaska to Canada.
And she will have to leave
and she will leave singing
she will dress like a Ciociara,
she will arrive with the sack,
she will conquer the storm.
And singing trullala',
The Witch will arrive.
Trulalla' Trullala' Trullala'.
A child, as small as a mouse,
has slipped into the chimney,
to see her up close.
When the Witch arrives
without teeth
she jumps, dances, drinks wine.
Then secretly she walks away
with the night stuck to her skirt.
And a warm wind will blow
on the deserts of Maragia,
from Alaska to Canada.
Only one star will shine
and she will have to follow it,
to fly towards the north
and the road is long
but she will conquer the storm.
And singing Trullala',
The Witch will go away.
And singing Trullala'
Truallalero Trullala'
