A Carta de Um Presidiário
Giesley Mota
The Letter of a Prisoner
Every day I keep listening from Sunday to Sunday
To that program that airs on the radio
Where mothers can send messages
I was distracted the other day
When someone said hello: It's Mrs. Maria
Then you said my name
I couldn't believe it and jumped for joy
Mom, I have so many news for us
You know, I received a Bible as a gift
From a pastor who comes here to teach us
That Jesus Christ is the way
Mom, don't forget to pray for us
God is listening to you, I'm so different
I don't even look like that son who made you cry so much
Wait for me, mom, I'll be back soon
From inside a cell, mom, I write you this letter
My longing is great but it will soon pass
I remember with affection the Sunday lunch
My parents rejoicing with their children gathered
The mistakes of my life brought me here
But that won't be a reason for me to give up
Because I met a God who can transform everything
I'll be back soon, mom
Ready to start over
