Tango Delle Rose
Gigliola Cinquetti
Tango of the Roses
There, there among the roses and flowers
the idyll began
and there were kisses,
bold caresses
then the follies of passion.
'I love you,' she whispers
and a burning kiss makes her tremble.
And to her sweet love
she always whispers like this:
'Love me! Kiss me with passion!
Take me! Embrace me ardently!
Pick me! My life is like a flower:
soon it blooms and soon it dies.
My heart is only for you!'
But, but a sad day came
and their love ended
like a rose
killed by frost
its beauty soon faded.
Madly, in the rose garden
she vainly pines in her sorrow.
She cries and like then
she sings to the lost love.
'Love me! Kiss me with passion!
Take me! Embrace me ardently!
Pick me! My life is like a flower:
soon it blooms and soon it dies.
My heart is only for you!'
