Procissão
Gilberto Gil
Procession
My divine Saint Joseph
Here I am at your feet
Give us abundant rain
My Jesus of Nazareth
Look, the procession is passing by
Dragging like a snake across the floor
The people passing by
They believe in things from heaven
Singing women take verses
The men listening take off their hats
They live in pain here on earth
Waiting for what Jesus promised
And Jesus promised better things
For those who live in this world without love
Only after delivering the body to the ground
Only after dying in this wilderness
I'm also on Jesus' side
I just think he forgot
To say that on earth we have
To find a way to live
Many people claim to be God
And it promises so many things for the hinterland
This will give Maria a dress
And promise João a garden
Year in, year out, and nothing comes
My hinterland continues to God will give
But if there is Jesus in the firmament
Here on earth this has to end
Look, the procession is passing by
Dragging like a snake across the floor
The people passing by
They believe in things from heaven
Women singing take in verses
And the men listening take off their hats
They live in pain here on earth
Waiting for what Jesus promised
Waiting, waiting for what Jesus promised
Waiting, waiting for what Jesus promised
