Heartless Son
(On the side of the road, I ran into an old man
Who, seeing me grilling, asked for a piece
And he told me, poor guy, all about his past
That he had on his journey
Sir, I’m an old man, but I’m a proud old man
I’ve never been a bum, I live like this in the world
Sorrowful, without any help, but I was a man who worked
And spent everything I earned to give my son an education
It’s a shame that my son, after graduating
Married a girl, the daughter of a wealthy big shot
And she kicked me out, and my son went along
That’s why I’m left out here, doing my work
Old and without a coat, while they’re in a nice house
My beloved wife is already six feet under
No longer by my side, and still, out of pity
They chase me from their gate, forgetting their past)
They send the servants to kick me out of the gate
And my son doesn’t even come to the door
He pleases his father-in-law, the dad of his wife
Because of her, he forgot that I’m his dad
And he doesn’t even recognize the sacrifice
That I made in life to keep up his education
I didn’t save anything for my old age
Because I spent everything I had on him
Today, an old man weakened like this
And lonely in the world, suffering like this
Damn education that I gave him with no benefit
To be a father to a son and have no one for me
When I fall into my final sleep
Make a grave and a cross from a stick
And a sign: A father dies in abandonment
For giving an education to such an ungrateful son.
