Red sun is beautiful to see
New moon up high, what beauty
Sky so clean and blue, it's nature
In a sight that brings much pleasure

But the beauty for me is the gray sky
With the face singing its refrain
A prelude that brings solace
Of the arrival of rains in the backlands

Seeing the cracked earth softening
The land, once poor, enriching
The corn pointing to the sky
The beans sprawling on the ground

And then, during the harvest, what joy
Seeing the whole people at the volcano
The black folks joining the revelry
Forgetting their sorrows without lundu

Beautiful is Recife catching fire
