Train Journeys

I think love stories are like train journeys,
And when I see all these travelers, sometimes I wish I could be one,
Why do you think so many people wait on the platform of the station,
Why do you think we freak out so much about arriving late.

Trains often start when you least expect it,
And the love story carries you away under the helpless gaze of witnesses,
The witnesses are your buddies who bid you farewell on the platform,
They watch the train move away with a worried smile,
You also wave to them and imagine their comments,
Some think you're messing up and not grounded,
Everyone has their own prediction about the duration of the journey,
For most, the train will derail at the first storm.

True love inevitably changes your behavior,
From the first day, you have to choose your compartment wisely,
Aisle seat or by the window, you have to find the right spot,
What will you choose, a first-class love story or second class.

In the first few kilometers, you only have eyes for their face,
You don't notice the passing landscapes behind the window,
You feel alive, you feel light, you don't see the time fly by,
You feel so good that you almost want to kiss the conductor.

But the magic only lasts for a while and your story starts to falter,
You think it's not your fault and it's all her fault,
The train's hum annoys you and every turn makes you sick,
You have to get up, walk, stretch your heart.

And the train slows down and it's already the end of your story,
Plus, you're like an idiot, your buddies stayed at the other station,
You say goodbye to the one you'll now call your ex,
In her agenda, she'll erase your name with correction fluid.

It's true that love stories are like train journeys,
And when I see all these travelers, sometimes I wish I could be one,
Why do you think so many people wait on the platform of the station,
Why do you think we freak out so much about arriving late.

For many, life is about trying to get on the train,
To know what love is and discover themselves full of enthusiasm,
For many, the goal is to arrive on time,
To succeed in their journey and access happiness.

It's easy to catch a train, but you have to catch the right one,
I hopped on a few cars, but it wasn't the right wagon,
Because trains are capricious and some are inaccessible,
And I don't always believe it's possible with the railway company.

There are those for whom trains are always on strike,
And their love stories only exist in their dreams,
And there are those who jump on the first train without paying attention,
But they will inevitably get off at the next station,
There are those who fear commitment because they are too emotional,
For them, it's too risky to hold onto the locomotive,
And there are adventurers who go from journey to journey,
As soon as one story ends, they start a new page.

After my only real journey, I suffered for months,
We parted ways by mutual agreement, but she was more in agreement than me,
Since then, I linger on the platforms, watching the departing trains,
Some doors open, but in a station, I feel apart.

It seems that train journeys generally end badly,
If that's the case for you, hold on and keep your spirits up,
Because one thing is certain, there will always be a terminus,
Now you've been warned, next time you'll take the bus.
