The Kids
Here the kids play in the afternoon
Barefoot kids, parents working, what can be done
Here lacks food, lacks education
Here in life there's plenty of reasons to listen to God
Here the kids live without caring who they are
Here I spend my hours smoking a cigarette
Watching the cars go by and the sun set
Don't judge if you don't live or never lived in a strange place
Where they shake hands but lack God
Here, too, it's nice to watch the sun set
The floor isn't so high but you can see the change that life brought
But here it's different, I don't know where I am
I miss my neighborhood, the streets I pass by, how happy I am
I don't need to mention where I'm from
I just grab the car, get in the armored one
The heavy atmosphere, just caution
The kids from my street see me coming
They approach the car, call me coveted
Pride for everyone to be from where I am
