The Gadareno
In the region of Gadara, there was a demon-possessed man
He lived in the tombs, screaming through the hills
He'd hit himself with stones, a captive of the devil
He turned into a beast, and people were scared
They'd steer clear of him, terrified of what he’d do
They’d chain him up, but he’d easily break free
The people were so confused, they had lost all hope
When they least expected it, he showed up in a boat
Our Lord Jesus Christ, and everything changed
He rebuked the demons and freed the Gadareno
The people wondered, what the hell is going on?
He was healthy and dressed, the one they used to fear
The Gadareno, now free, said, "Lord, I’ll follow you"
And Jesus replied, "Go and tell your friends"
"Share with all your people what God has done for you"
There are many out there still held captive
They don’t live in tombs, but even dressed to the nines
Through sin and addiction, they’re wrecking their lives
Today I didn’t arrive in a boat, nor to the region of Gadara
Today the one who frees souls is here with us
If you want, you can try it, and your life will be saved
My life was captive, Jesus made it free
Today I preach His word because I’m grateful
Wherever I go, I say, Jesus frees the captive
The people were so confused, they had lost all hope
When they least expected it, he showed up in a boat
Our Lord Jesus Christ, and everything changed
He rebuked the demons and freed the Gadareno
The people wondered, what the hell is going on?
He was healthy and dressed, the one they used to fear
