Abuso de Poder

Abuse of Power

I wonder why here your worth depends on your skin
Why doesn’t everyone feel the same pain?
Why is the Black guy immediately labeled
As the one who’s gonna steal or deal drugs?
It’s society that judges and discriminates
People based on how they dress or how they walk.
Being Black and from the hood gets you marginalized,
But they can’t even imagine what it’s like to belong.
Everything looks nice from a Mercedes, right?
It’s easy to judge what you don’t know and can’t see.
How easy it is to take down a cripple
Or fool a blind man when he can’t see your eyes.
So what constitution is a cop gonna talk to me about
When they lock me up just for a smoke?
Knowing they’re complicit with the narcos
Who ship kilos and bags across the border by boat.
Come on, talk to me about laws that are just for show
When their hustle is all about bribery.
I don’t expect this shit to change,
Knowing that it’s the poor who get screwed by the cops.
They don’t go into the neighborhoods where the real thugs are,
Instead, they wait for the 15th and the end of the month
For some dude to show up with his paycheck.
And the craziest part is they’re so bold
They’ll give you a hard time if you stand up for your rights.
Why don’t they see the government’s failures?
And ask why there are so many kids in prison?
Where does the crime get the grenades,
The vests, the guns that only the military has?
Here, if you’ve got cash, you can get away with anything.
You could’ve done whatever, but it’s all denied
In these corrupt police forces.
Honesty went down the drain,
Anyone can live behind a facade these days
Where crime is playing smart, now they’re becoming cops.
It’s a joke to make deals, to scam in finance,
That’s why corruption never sleeps.
Where does the drug go that they seize?
Tell me who’s got it, where does a cop get so much stuff?
Isn’t it from hustling with bribes and scams?
Because a cop’s word against a poor person’s
Of course, the noble one, the poor one who always gets screwed
Because he doesn’t have the cash.
The Black kid walks by and they ask for his ID,
And if he doesn’t have it, they want to take his phone.
They talk down to citizens while they’re robbing them.
Sometimes I wonder, are they cops or are they thugs?

This song is dedicated to all those who abuse power,
In colloquial terms, the "MATRAQUEROS,"
Asking for ID from people, abusing them
Because they wear a uniform. It’s just thugs in uniform.
I could also be out there, but I can’t
Because I’m Black, because I’m Black and I’m poor,
Because I’m from the hood. My friends tell me, "No way,"
The ones who are in crime want to get me to be a cop
So I can scam well. What a joke, right?
The reality is a joke. Remember, I’m also out there,
Respect the citizens, respect the people.
Who told you that crime dresses like me?
Crime doesn’t dress like a rapper, man.
