Un Abuso
Gustavo Cordera
An Abuse
They taught us to see the world through a window
To stay still, live seated, lose our drive
Disconnecting until we forget ourselves
Cowering, we create nothing, we destroy ourselves
And they don't even respect, not even, our gaze
They want to leave us with nothing left
That's an abuse of intimacy
That's an abuse of nudity
That's an abuse of freedom
That's an abuse of childhood
That's an abuse of divinity
That's an abuse of my heart
That's an abuse of my own voice
That's an abuse of God Himself
And now they travel through our veins with their lies
They poison us with food and medicine
Prescribing sex with their moral recipes
Because they fear we'll awaken so much energy
And they inject that poison into us every day
To sell us that being asleep is a better life
And that's an abuse of science, of art
That's an abuse of spirit and of my flesh
That's an abuse of this blind, deaf, and mute present
That's an abuse of what I hope for, of my future
And that's an abuse of all those who gave their lives
So that we could be better today
That's an abuse of those who rise every day
To face this horror
That's an abuse of all of us who still believe in love
That's an abuse of souls
All the lies are exposed to the sun
All the lies are illuminated
All the lies are exposed to the sun
All the lies are illuminated
All the lies are exposed to the sun
All the lies are illuminated
They reveal themselves, they shine, they reveal themselves, oh
All the lies are exposed to the sun
And they shine
