Mein Herz, Das Ist Ein Bilderbuch Vom Alten Wien
Hans Moser
My Heart, It's a Picture Book of Old Vienna
Do you know the old Viennese guy?
The one with the virgin?
With the golden heart and the giant grin?
Do you know Emperor Franzl
And a real folk song,
Do you know the fairy tale city by the Danube shore?
My heart, it's a picture book of old Vienna,
I secretly flip through it many times.
And I get so crazy with joy, just like a kid,
When I find the old Prater just as it was:
On page three, I check out the pretty girls,
On page four, the old horse-drawn carriage rolls by,
On page five, you see the folks heading to the flower parade:
My heart, it's a picture book of old Vienna!
Dear Viennese Vroni!
You’re so full of harmony!
Every magic was a beautiful waltz beat!
The bells were ringing,
The girls were singing,
Vienna, your magic has charmed everyone!
My heart, it's a picture book of old Vienna,
I secretly flip through it many times.
And I get so crazy with joy, just like a kid,
When I find the cab and the good music in it:
On page six, Johann Strauss is conducting,
On page seven, they’re just pulling out the pastries,
And on the last page, dear Augustin sings:
My heart, it's a picture book of old Vienna!
