Ni me entrego ni me voy
Héctor Negro
Neither Do I Give In Nor Do I Leave
Because it’s my land, I stay.
To know who I am.
I want to, but I can’t,
but still, I’m here.
I have so many hopes,
a lot of drive, a lot of love.
I have dreams in heaps
and young years in bloom.
Here I am, and I don’t work,
because they don’t give me a job.
Like those down here
who suffer and can’t be seen.
Here I am, in love,
with nowhere to settle down.
With a very little past
and a future that’s not there.
Here I am with the underdogs.
And the upper class... what are they up to?
Because it’s my ground, I want it.
Even if they treat me so bad.
And I keep going because I’m betting
that nothing will be the same.
I always have my hope
and with it, I give myself.
And even if sometimes it’s not enough,
I neither give in, nor do I leave.
