Mommy, Give Me a Little Horse
Once upon a time, there was a little boy,
who begged so sweetly:
"Mommy, give me a little horse! -
A little horse would be my paradise."
Then the little guy got
A pair of marzipan horses.
He looks at them. He cries and says:
"I don't want horses like these."
"Mommy, give me a little horse!
A little horse would be my paradise.
Mommy, I don't want horses like these."
Time went by. The boy wished
for nothing from Santa but a horse.
Then the Christ Child came flying
and gave him what he desired.
On a table stood proudly
four horses made of painted wood.
He looks at them. He cries and says:
"I don't want horses like these."
"Mommy, give me a little horse!
A little horse would be my paradise.
Mommy, I don't want horses like these."
And many years passed
and the boy grew into a man.
Then one day at the gate,
a magnificent team stopped.
In front of a fancy carriage stood
four horses - richly adorned and beautiful.
They brought him by his dear mother.
Then he remembered his youth.
"Mommy, give me a little horse!
A little horse would be my paradise.
Mommy, I don't want sorrowful horses."
