La Chica de Los Ojos Claros
Hervé Vilard
The Girl with Light Eyes
My mother's hair would not have imagined
Of any other color, other than ashen
Or silver white of shining dawn
Until the other day in a book I found
By chance
The photo of a girl with such light eyes
That resemble the sea
Then I understood that I had forgotten
That before I was born, my mother had lived
Close to thirty years, beautiful as a flower
I didn't realize that she had also loved
Until I saw
The photo of a girl with such light eyes
Like a sunrise
I never imagined my mother devoted
To a great passion, and that in creating me
She had to be loved and give love
Until the other day in a book I found
By chance
The photo of a girl with such light eyes
That resemble the sea
The photo of a girl with such light eyes
With such a sweet gaze
