Ao Ver a Cruz

Upon seeing the cross, my rough heart
Is silent in the face of such horror!
I think of the nails on His hands
And how He died alone out of love for me!

I see Calvary, the mountain so cruel!
There, Jesus was nailed to the cross
I see Calvary, the mountain of love!
My guilt was paid there by Jesus

In my eyes come the scenes so cruel
And humbly I think of His love

Then my soul in silent contrition
Eternally gives thanks to the Savior

I meditate on the pains He suffered
I feel more love for my Jesus
It was there that He gave me His forgiveness
I am happy and grateful to see the cross
