In the Garden
1. I went to the garden all alone,
At the first heavenly rays,
Then I could hear a sweet and gentle voice,
The kind voice of the master.

What joy to always hear that voice;
'I love you, oh sinner!
Even death on the cross I suffered,
To be your savior.'
2. I heard his divine voice
In very soft tones,
Speaking to me with equal tenderness
To the gentle voice of the birds.
3. I keep listening to his voice
In the vibrant earthly struggle,
And when the fierce enemy comes to tempt me,
How good to hear the master!
