If the blazing sun blinds us
When seen in its full glory
Who will contemplate the one
Who is the Creator of the Sun?
Patriarchs and prophets
Could not see him!
Nor did Adam have the pleasure
Of seeing him before sinning

Light, for which light is darkness
Who can contemplate you?
Our naked, human eyes
Cannot behold you!
Fire above the holy ark
Burning bush of Sinai
These are only figures
Of the glory of the Lord, the eternal Father

For us to have
Free and sweet communion with Him
Christ, the Son, became flesh
Became our redemption
So that in eternal glory
We may see him unveiled
Christ suffered death
Opened a way to heaven
