O Filho Pródigo
Hinos Avulsos CCB
The Prodigal Son
Father, I know I have saddened you with my words
Since I left here
All that inheritance you gave me
I spent on wrong things
But hunger, oh father, brought me here
Father, I know my actions have hurt you
You don't need to receive me as a son
But hire me as your servant
For I need it, or else I will perish from hunger
Father, forgive this son who abandoned you
Always had everything in his hands and never valued
I know I saddened you as a son
Made you cry, but as a servant
I am here to listen and fulfill your words
Kill a sheep, a fatted calf, play music
Today there's a party, my son who was dead has come back to life
Give him a bath, change his dirty and torn clothes
Put a ring on his finger and give back what is yours
Son, I will never have you as my servant
For I have long awaited to reunite with you
How many sleepless nights I spent crying for you
Waiting for dawn to see you return
Son, rejoice, let's celebrate together
For among the dead, I will no longer see you
My troubled heart found you again
For you are young and cannot understand
But tomorrow you will understand a father's love
If like this son you also left your home
Listen, there is still time for you to reconcile
If you seek God and implore with great humility
The angels will rejoice for you
And from God, you will receive forgiveness
