From a piece of blessed land,
Made our beloved São João.

With tenderness, he shaped beautiful mountains
And, towering, raised them to the sky.
He placed the Jaguari River over the lands
And, smiling, gave us all this.

Of brotherly people

Enhancing the created beauties,
He made the sun hide majestically,
Crowning the silent evenings,
With a marvelous twilight.

Always hospitable and beloved,

A corner of heaven detached,
Here is São João da Boa Vista!
