Exemplary precursor of the Nation's History
In abolishing black slavery

You did not fear the drought
With its infernal heat
You found the good water
That quenched your people's thirst

Nature showed kindness
In bestowing gifts upon Mossoró
From the meadows and the sun comes wealth
The Salt, precious salt, produced by the sea
In the Caatinga forests, the white cotton
Shines brightly in the dry season

Comes the breeze from the Northeast
Messenger from the high Sea
The beautiful carnauba trees
Whispering, lull

To the people, to their deeds, to the city

Legacy of hope to the youth
