Versos de un payador al General Juan Perón

Verses of a Troubadour to General Juan Perón

I hope you’ll forgive me, sir, that a troubadour on the road
raises his genuine verse before such a crowd.
In this moment of urgency, I wish I had Gabino's gift
to praise with more precision your historic presidency
that your excellence achieved on this Argentine ground.

Forgive me, Mr. President, but I’m certain
that praising your greatness translates many minds.
You fought for the people, clearing away the weeds,
and the common man who always stands with justice and honor
knows you were brave alongside their poverty.

You ended the moment of social misery
and the general disgrace of the traitors who triumphed;
a shame from the days gone by, when electoral fraud
was the fatal fate awaiting the voter
in those distant times of national disgrace.

Following the actions of this noble evolution,
the people of the nation live their moment of glory.
They will always remember the great revolution,
and with all their heart, they will maintain the path
that General Juan Perón has marked in history.

You work and protect us since dawn breaks,
taking time from the hours, sacrificing your own life.
You are the beloved light of this blessed era,
and your saving knowledge, while it fulfills, doesn’t forget
the underprivileged class, who are brave and hard-working.

That’s why, my General, with this improvisation,
I wanted to contribute my share to your national work.
No one has understood the nation’s sorrows like you,
nobody with more heart freed us from so much evil,
nobody like Juan Perón, President and General...
