Soy un circo

Horacio Ferrer Horacio Ferrer

I'm a Circus

(Spoken)
- Ladies and gentlemen... Music, maestro!
I'm a clown who didn't paint Picasso
and Sarrasani and the Great Thiany never saw!
I don't have ruffled suits, drum rolls, or top hats
or flashy buttons or watering can.
I'm just a mediocre joke
and it's better not to know: my life. Ha, ha, ha!
I'm a clown and if necessary
I'm the bear, the tony, the pony,
the usher, the ringmaster,
the elephant's dentist and the fire-eater.
Why am I a whole circus?
Because you are so sad,
soul friend. Listen...

(Sung)
I'm a circus, my brother, I'm a circus,
dry your tears in the lion's mane,
then dress in my bird suit
to meet Don Quixote and Buster Keaton
waiting for us in the lobby.

In my circus everything is colorful neigh,
hang your grudge on the moon's horns,
if a clown's big pocket is destiny
you enter, and I'll paint you
with aspirin the bump.

Also, the tenderness of a beautiful failure
redeems in the Greek tragedy of living.
Like a broken beast's roll
suffers the one who loved the most
and love revives him to insist!

How serious I got, clown and bore!
The lights come on, come this way,
our guests are already seated
while the band welcomes them like this.

(Spoken)
In that box with a fine look
but a little conceited,
I see your forgiveness,
do they use ear trumpets for the deaf, right?,
because they forgive, but they don't forget.
I see your loneliness in the audience.
Your faults haven't arrived, or don't you have any?
And they just filled the bleachers of the popular
with your good memories, your lovely loves,
maybe you should give them better seats
for the next shows. Maybe.

(Sung)
I'm a circus, my brother, I'm a circus,
the night goes with its satin cape
sowing a magical commotion of affections
noticing that you smiled
with a bit of childhood.

And, in the end, when my circus is empty
death will do its old act without a net,
you will tremble for the miracle of being alive,
with the soul in balance
on a paper lily.

(Spoken)
And now that you're hopeful
and dancing on the trapeze
the dawn, little girl,
nothing here, nothing there!

(Sung)
With whistle and somersault
my circus is leaving,
with dreams of a poet
and fraternal song.

(Spoken)
Goodbye, goodbye, my brother,
goodbye, my circus is leaving,
my circus is leaving.
My circus has left!
