Te Escribo Desde El Sur
Hugo Gimenez Agúero
I Write to You From the South
Río Gallegos
Province of Santa Cruz
Twenty-fourth of December
You know
The Sun is so high
It's almost midnight
That happens in summer
I have
The mountain range close by
Where the flag
Flies with its Sun
With its Sun
And, before my eyes, today I have
A letter, where you
Ask me, how I am
Here in the south
And, I tell you, my love
That the Homeland is, like you
Like mom, like dad
And I defend it here in the south
And I write to you
With all the guys we go campaigning
Through big canyons, lakes, and mountains
And in the middle of the forests of lengas and araucarias
Early in the morning, when the Sun was just peeking over its crests
With the morning song, we raised our sky-blue and white to the sky
And I can't truly tell you what I feel
Because I lack the words to tell you
I just know that God put this long road before my eyes
And I am proud, very proud to be Argentine
And, before my eyes, today I have
A letter, where you
Ask me, how I am
Here in the south
And, I tell you, my love
That the Homeland is, like you
Like mom, like dad
And I defend it here in the south
La, la la la la, la la la
La la la la la la la la la la la
La la la, la la
